What materials do you use?
We use 100% high quality cotton muslin (165 GSM standard) for most backdrops. We also offer canvas for premium options. All materials are dyed and painted using environment-friendly dyes, paints and chemicals. Theatre and event backdrops are treated with International Standard flame-retardant coatings.
What is GSM?
GSM stands for grams per square meter. It measures the weight and density of fabric. Our 165 GSM muslin is among the heaviest and densest in the industry, ensuring durability and excellent light absorption without reflection.
Are your backdrops flame-retardant?
Theatre and event backdrops are treated with International Standard flame retardants for safety compliance. Photography backdrops are available in standard or flame-retardant versions upon request.

What sizes are available?
We offer custom sizing for all backdrops to fit your specific studio, stage, or event requirements. Contact us with your dimensions and we can provide options and pricing.
Do you offer custom designs?
Yes, custom backdrops are our speciality. We work with clients from initial concept through final delivery. Minimum order: 10 pieces. Lead time: 2 weeks from artwork approval.
What file formats do you accept for custom designs?
We accept all file formats including AI, PSD, PDF at 300 DPI, JPEG, PNG, and more. We can also work from sketches, photographs, or rough concepts.
Can you design a backdrop if I have no artwork?
Yes, we offer design services. Our in-house team of designers, artists and engineers can work with you to create your vision from scratch.
Care & Maintenance
How do I care for my backdrop?
Aavant backdrops are machine washable with mild detergent and warm water. Air dry flat or hang to dry to maintain shape and colour. This ensures your backdrop stays looking new for years.
How long do backdrops last?
With proper care, Aavant backdrops last many years. Our heavy 165 GSM construction ensures durability even with regular use.

What is your minimum order quantity?
Standard catalogue items: No minimum. Custom orders: 10 pieces minimum.
What is your lead time for orders?
Standard photography backdrops: 2-3 weeks. Custom orders: 2 weeks from artwork approval. Large orders may require longer lead times. Contact us to confirm exact timeline for your order.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship to USA, Europe, and worldwide. High-volume photography backdrops typically ship via ocean freight. High-value theatre and event backdrops ship via air cargo for faster delivery.
What are your payment terms?
We offer advance payment for new customers. Established customers can arrange negotiated payment terms including milestone payments. Contact us to discuss flexible options for your order.
Do you offer samples?
Yes, we can provide samples of materials and designs. Contact us to request samples before placing a large order.
Technical Questions
What is the rod pocket size?
Standard rod pockets are 3 inches, 4 inches, or 6 inches, depending on your rigging equipment. Specify your preference when ordering.
Are backdrops seamless?
Our photography and most theatre backdrops are made from seamless fabric. Custom very large backdrops may require seaming, which is done professionally to minimise visibility.
Can I use Aavant backdrops outdoors?
Aavant backdrops are primarily designed for indoor use. Outdoor use is not recommended due to weather exposure and UV damage to fabrics and dyes.
